First off, I want to shout out to Cameron Thomson and Jennifer Barrios Tettay for helping me with ideas for this challenge. Without their suggestions, this challenge wouldn’t be happening. Now, onto the meat! October is coming up, and the writing fuel is evolving into pumpkin spice and horror stories; whether comical or terrifying, we all know this month is all about the monsters! So let’s write about it! The theme for the challenge is monsters — take that however you like. Happy, sad, friendly, cruel, whatever your muse desires. As long as there’s a monster in there, it counts! You’ll Want To Read THIS So, this challenge has a cash prize! Woot! At the end of the month, whatever story has the most claps will win $20 from TAM. I’ll type that again: get the most claps out of all the participating stories, and you win $20 from me! Why Claps? I’m normally all about the follows, right? Well, that’s mostly true but secretly I’m really pro-engagement. The big secret here is to unlock what people will click on and stay to read, and claps are the best way to measure that. Of course, I know people can clap without reading. BUT, we work with the system we got, yeah? So this isn’t just your everyday challenge. You write a quality story, sure, but this challenge also encourages you to self-promote that story as well. The Evergreen Directory will do its part to share participating stories weekly; but it’s highly suggested you do additional promotions beyond that. The more people you can get to read and clap, the better your chances are to win! Other Rules Qualifying stories have to be:
Ok, Ok, We Get It. How Do We Participate???I’ve got a form on The Evergreen Directory’s website specifically for this challenge → fill out the form here. The details captured aren’t shared with anyone — it’s ONLY to catalogue your details in case you win (and also a little bit to find new people for F2F articles). All data captured through the challenge form will be deleted after the challenge is over. Ready to participate in the challenge? And while you're at it, remember to check out the listings too!
